JK BMS Guide 02 - Max Charging Current

📘 Guide: Adjusting Maximum Charging Current on JK BMS (iPhone Bluetooth App)

1. Connecting Your iPhone to the JK BMS

  1. Install the JK BMS App
    • Open the App Store on your iPhone.
    • Search for “Xiaoxiang BMS” or “JK BMS”.
    • Download and install the app (no registration required).
  2. Turn on Bluetooth & Power the BMS
    • Ensure your battery pack is powered ON.
    • Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone under Settings.
  3. Connect in the App
    • Open the app and tap Connect or the Bluetooth icon.
    • Select your BMS (shows as BMS-XXXX).
    • If prompted for a password, try 1234 or 000000.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the app freezes: force close and reopen.
  • If it shows but won’t connect: forget the device in Bluetooth settings, then retry.
  • Only one device should connect at a time.
  • If nothing shows: restart both the BMS and iPhone Bluetooth.

2. Navigating the App

After connecting, you’ll see the Dashboard (voltage, current, SOC, cell data). Look for these menus:

  • Settings or Parameters
  • Charge Settings or Charge Control
  • Discharge Settings
  • Advanced Settings (depends on app version)

3. Adjusting the Maximum Charging Current

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Select Charge Settings.
  3. Find Max Charge Current or Charge Current Limit (may show as I_chg max).
  4. Tap the value (e.g., 10.0 A) and enter the new limit (e.g., 100 A).
  5. Tap Save or Confirm.
  6. On some versions, tap Write to apply changes.

Important Notes:

  • Confirm your BMS rating supports the higher current.
  • Do not exceed your charger’s rated max (e.g., 100 A).
  • Charging too fast reduces cell cycle life and increases heat.
  • For long life: charge around 0.3C–0.5C (≈80–140 A for 280 Ah cells).
  • Verify new settings by watching the Dashboard current display during charging.

4. Related Charging Parameters

  • Cell Over-Voltage Protection (OVP): usually 3.65 V per cell.
  • Pack Over-Voltage Protection: about 58.4 V for 16S.
  • Charge Temp Protection: stops charging if too hot/cold.
  • Balancing Settings: enables balancing above ~3.40 V.

⚠️ Only adjust these if you fully understand their function.

5. Best Practices for Monitoring

  • After changes, monitor a full charge cycle.
  • Check cell balance (aim for ≤0.03 V difference).
  • Watch temperature (avoid >45°C during charging).
  • Re-check settings periodically and Save/Write again if needed.

⚠️ Safety Warnings

  • Ensure wires, fuses, and connectors are rated for the chosen current.
  • Increase charging current in steps (10 A → 50 A → 80 A → 100 A).
  • Overcharging or overheating may damage cells or void warranties.
