How to Store Lithium-Ion Batteries

I love batteries and you love them too, so in order to make sure they last long and stay safe, batteries need to be stored properly. The obvious tips are: Avoid high-moisture, avoid mechanical damage like smashing and puncturing, avoid extreme temperatures, avoid corrosive chemicals, basic common sense things like that. What else do I need to know about storing my lithium ion batteries?
