The AmpBox Interface Panel – Hardware & Port Guide

The front panel of your AmpBox is the command center for the JK‑PB2A16S BMS. While the internal wiring is fully handled, understanding the external interface ensures safe operation, proper communication, and seamless multi‑battery expansion.

1. The 3.2" LCD Touchscreen / Display

The integrated LCD provides quick diagnostics without needing the mobile app. It’s your real‑time window into the battery’s health.

  • Main Screen: Shows Pack Voltage, Current (Amps), and SOC %.
  • Cell Detail Page: Displays all 16 individual cell voltages.
  • Tip: Watch the Delta (Δ) value — a healthy AmpBox (280–314Ah) typically stays below 0.030V at rest.
  • Status Icons: Indicates whether CHG or DSG MOSFETs are active.
2. Communication Ports (RJ45 Interface)

The AmpBox uses RJ45 ports for data communication — but these are not Ethernet ports. They carry CAN/RS485 signals only.

  • CAN Port: Used for closed‑loop communication with inverters such as Victron, EG4, Sol‑Ark, Deye. Sends real‑time cell data for optimized charging.
  • RS485‑1 & RS485‑2:
    • Parallel Linking: Connects multiple AmpBoxes together.
    • PC Link: Works with a JK‑USB adapter for firmware updates via PC software.
3. The DIP Switch Array (Addressing System)

The DIP switches assign a unique address to each AmpBox in a multi‑battery system.

  • Single Battery: All switches OFF.
  • Master Battery: Switch 1 ON.
  • Slave Batteries: Each must have a unique binary address.
Warning: Never change DIP switch positions while the BMS is powered. Turn the BMS off, adjust the switches, then power it back on to apply the new address.
4. The Power Button & Reset
  • Wake Up: Hold for ~3 seconds to exit shipping/sleep mode.
  • Power Off: Hold for 5–8 seconds for long‑term shutdown.
  • Hard Reset: A quick tap or timed hold (varies by firmware) can reboot the BMS logic.
5. LED Status Bar (Visual Health)
  • Blue/Green (Solid or Flashing): Normal operation. Number of LEDs = SOC level.
  • Solid Red: System fault — check the LCD for error codes (e.g., Overvoltage, OTP).
6. Main DC Breaker

This DC‑rated breaker protects both the JK‑PB2A16S and your cells from external shorts. The BMS has electronic protection, but this breaker is your primary manual disconnect and secondary failsafe.
