First Power-Up & Activation Procedure
Share
Your JK‑PB2A16S‑series BMS is already installed inside the AmpBox. This guide walks you through safely transitioning the system from Storage Mode to Active Mode without risking arc‑flash, alarms, or communication faults.
Step 1: Physical Inspection & Preparation
Before applying power, verify the physical condition of your AmpBox. This ensures a clean, safe activation.
- Terminal Check: Ensure the main positive and negative terminals are clean and free of debris.
- Breaker Position: Confirm the integrated DC Circuit Breaker is in the OFF position.
- Multi‑Pack Addressing: If using multiple AmpBoxes, set your DIP Switches now (Address 1 = Master, 2+ = Slaves).
Step 2: Connecting to the System
Always connect your battery cables before turning the BMS on. This prevents false alarms and short‑circuit triggers.
- Connect the Negative (‑) cable from your inverter or busbar to the AmpBox.
- Connect the Positive (+) cable.
- Pro Tip: If your inverter lacks a pre‑charge circuit, briefly use a pre‑charge resistor for ~5 seconds before final connection. This prevents the BMS from tripping “Short Circuit Protection.”
Step 3: Activating the JK‑BMS
The PB‑series BMS does not automatically wake up — it requires a manual activation trigger.
- Power Button: Press and hold the Power / Reset button for 3–5 seconds.
- LED Indicator: The SOC bar will flash or cycle.
- LCD Screen: The display will illuminate, showing Pack Voltage and “Charge/Discharge OFF” (normal at this stage).
Step 4: Engaging the DC Breaker
Once the BMS is active and showing no alarms:
- Switch the Main DC Breaker to the ON position.
- Your inverter should now detect the battery voltage.
Step 5: Bluetooth Discovery
With the AmpBox powered, the JK‑BMS begins broadcasting Bluetooth.
- Open the JK BMS App on your phone.
- Look for a device named JK‑PB2A16S… or JK‑BMS.
- The default pairing/settings password is 1234.
Crucial Safety Note: If the BMS emits a continuous beep or displays a “Short Circuit” alarm immediately after activation, turn off the breaker and verify polarity at your inverter terminals.
