The Jag35 Student Package is the most affordable bundle we offer. Includes everything you need to get started at an entry-level for students who already own a camcorder, comes with the option to include an achromat and ships with either 37mm, 43mm or 58mm threads to fit most consumer camcorders. The bundle includes the Jag35ST adapter itself plus a used Canon FD 50mm f1.8 lens in excellent shape, you also get an allen wrench to help you adjust the rotation of the adapter on your camera. A great affordable option to start shooting shallow depth of field, right away.
Hi there. Is there any loss in performance between this and the Jag35 Pro? It seems as if the mechanism on the side is missing on this device.
Thank you.

Im really interested in buying the Jag35 ST student bundle package. But I have a sony fx7 camera, would that be compatible to work with the package? I know that the fx7 is a 62mm thread size, so i'd need a step down thread ring?
Would there be any other problems?
thank you

You should get the thread size that fits your camera's filter thread. Your HV20 has a 43mm filter thread.

The image gets inverted when shooting with adapters. We offer the fliphack for a couple of Canon model cameras like HV20/30/40 or HF-S10/100 otherwise, we suggest you use an external monitor mounted upside down.

Our Jag35ST (which is included) IS the dof adapter. The Jag35 adapter screws right in your Canon HV30's 43mm filter thread.

Oh, and by the way, I understand that it will work with the Sanyo Xacti HD2000 with a 40.5mm to 43 adapter…I am just wondering about the focus problem that one user encountered and if anyone else had a similar problem. I am also aware that the image will be upside down.

I am looking in to getting this package, obtaining a shallow depth of field is very important to me, I have a panasonic hdc-tm700, and I had a question about the necessity of the achromat. What does it do? and why should I include it? I have no problem doing so once I figure out what it is for. Thank you and a quick response would be appreciated.

Not sure about this. Don't have any experience with the Xacti cameras, but basically, all you need to figure out is, if your camera can focus to an object that's about an inch and a half away from your camera's lens. If it can do that, then you should be fine.
JJ

will this work for my Canon Vixia HF200 and what size lens would fit on it?
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Yes, the Vixia HF200 according to cnet reviews has a filter thread of 37mm. So just be sure to order it with a 37mm thread when placing your order. This bundle already comes with a used Canon lens, it's a 50mm, f1.8 FD lens. You can use any FD lenses with this adapter.
Dan Wang
Misa, Thanks for the recommendation. Can I assume the HF S10 has the filter thread as the HF200 mentioned below? Therefore I would order the 37mm thread size? And what is the benefit of having an achromat version?
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Hi Dan, No the HFS100 has a filter thread of 58mm.
Mac Marc08
yes it does you need the 37mm thread size
Ollie
It says "Available in Threads 37mm or 43mm". however. when on the drop down menu it says "58m". Also if you check the "Jag35ST" that is not on the student bundle the drop down menu does not have the 58mm thread size option. Is this an error or is it available in 58mm?Ollie.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
if you buy the bundle we include the 58mm step ring, but if you buy it alone, you'll have to buy a 58mm to 43mm step ring from this page: http://jag35.com/new/products/step-rings/

all adapters invert the image? the inversion is only in viwfinder also inverts the image or recorded? so what to do to save the picture normal? or would it take pictures with the camera upside down? thanks !

1. Yes all adapters invert the image.2. the camera will also record the image inverted.3. couple of things to solve the inverted issue. Mount an external monitor so you can view the image correctly while you shoot, and you can mount the camera upside down on your rig while you shoot so you can capture the image correctly as you shoot.Hope this helps.

The Student bundle should work for your camera… I believe your camera has a 30mm filter thread, so get the adapter with a 37mm thread, then you will still need to get a 30mm to 37mm step up ring. You can find them on ebay for a couple of bucks.

Hi Misa Garcia,nCan u0131 use Jag 35 st on my old camcorder, canon fs 100, after using 43mm to 37 mm step down ring.nThere are some videos about using wide screen lens on fs 100, I just wondering about jag35 st.nI dont want to get new camera, fs 100 is enough for me even not be hd, if u0131 order, is fs 100 acceptable for jag35st ( 99$ )nnAnd finally if that is acceptable , what should u0131 choose Mount Type option on order page.nnThank you.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Yes it should work, just make sure you order the correct thread size for your camera. If you order the Student bundle, it already includes an SLR lens, a Canon FD 50mm f1.8 so you don't need to choose a mount type. If you plan to get the Jag35ST alone, then you will need to choose the mount type, depending on what type of lenses you intend on using. Hope this helps.

Hi, very interested in the student bundle. I have a canon hv30 – i just wanted to double check and see if you knew the thread size? I believe it's 43mm. thanks

Chatura Madusanka
37mm
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Ok, it'l work just make sure order the adapter with a 37mm thread.
1. You can read all about achromats here: http://jag35.com/new/blog/all-about-achromats/
2. The adapter will invert the image, so shooting upside down means you won't have to in post.
3. The Canon HFS21 has a 58mm thread, and yes you can still use the Student Bundle.
4. The Jag35ST only comes in 37mm or 43mm thread, but if order the bundle we include the 58mm thread if that's what you need.
Nathon
Is there any way that I don't have to film upside down? How am I supposed to use a tripod when needed?
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
You don't have to shoot upside down… you can with your camera right side up, then all you have to do is invert the image in post. Lots of people shoot this way.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Add it to the cart and you'll see how much it costs to ship it to you.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Not sure what you mean. You want to add a lens in front of the SLR lens, that’s already mounted to your adapter that goes in front of your video camera’s lens? I don’t think that’s a good idea.
Instead of the fliphack, you can mount an external monitor to your rig, we offer monitors for $249 and they include features to invert the image, so you can shoot that way. You’ll still need to invert the image in post, or you can shoot with your camera upside down.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Nope that’s it!
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
the Jag35ST “ADAPTER” is still only an adapter, of course you still need an SLR Lens. The lens is what creates the images. the adapter only allows you to capture it with your camera.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
yes, just be sure to order it with a 37mm thread.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Our Jag35ST adapter will allow you to mount SLR Lenses to your video camcorder. Using SLR lenses you can control the Depth of field of your shots, by opening and closing your lenses aperture. Hope this helps

Hi I just received the 35mm adapter Jag 35 ST student bundle is that supposed to come with a battery charger and battery of some sort?
Kevin Garcia
No, the Jag35ST does not have a motor of any kind so there is no need for a battery charger. The Jag35SP and the Jag35Pro have motors in them that need to be recharged. The Jag35ST is just a static adapter.
No, the student bundle will not work with your DVX-100A. That camera has a large front element and you will need much larger optics. Your camera has a 72mm thread, i highly recommend that you go with our newest adapter the Jag35SP. The SP has a high speed spinning screen that will get rid of all the grain in your footage giving you really great and sharp footage. Check out this video that we were able to capture with a small consumer camera : http://www.vimeo.com/10105913

hi just wondering how bad the vignetting is.

I have a Sony HDRSR12. I read the information on the camcorder lens and it says its a F1.8… I am sure I will get an even shallower depth of field by purchasing this package, but just wanted your thoughts!
MTaras
hey i was wondering if you could help me out. I am a starter film maker and just purchased a canon hv40. beautiful camera. I wanted to now invest in an adapter to enhance the film look even more. If i get this package, what else do i need? reading the thread you mentioned an SLR lense? do i need additional equipment or is this everything i need?
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
The HF20 has a 58mm filter thread diameter. I would definitely recommend the Jag35SP.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
we have currently stopped accepting orders for the Student Bundle, we’re only accepting orders for the Jag35SP now.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
We no longer offer the Student Bundle, I suggest the Jag35SP, it’s the only 35mm adapter we are still accepting orders for.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
the bundle included the SLR lens, however, we have stopped accepting orders for this most 35mm adapters. We are still accepting orders for the Jag35SP adapter. Will give you the sharpest image from all our adapters.
JJ
Why did you stop offering the student bundle? Either you ran out or you are just trying to make some extra cash by directing everyone to the SP. If thats the case then i would say that a pretty lame business move. However i did find a student bundle on Ebay for 150, so do what you will.
http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Reason we are not offering the Student Bundle anymore, is because we have come to the end of our last batch of parts to make them. There’s isn’t a huge demand for the Jag35ST anymore, so we decided to dedicate our time to other products that are very high on demand, like the Jag35SP and DSLR support products, sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused.
That camera I believe has a 37mm filter thread according to the specs on the link you posted. So it should work fine, however, we are no longer selling the Jag35ST, I suggest you go with the Jag35SP: http://jag35.com/new/products/jag35sp/

http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia
Hi Will, Sorry to say, we are an online store only, we don’t have a proper location yet, hopefully soon. Also, we are no longer accepting orders for the Jag35ST Bundle anymore, sorry about that. The only adapter we still continue to build is the Jag35SP: http://jag35.com/new/products/jag35sp/
Will
Thank you for replying. I have a Canon HF S100 and would like to buy one of your Jag35s. Do you have any in stock that would fit my Canon HF S100?

Sure go with the Jag35SP with 40mm achromat and choose the 58mm thread of course, so it works with your camera’s filter thread. You can find it on this page: http://bit.ly/jag35sp
