What converter would you use to equip a Nikon lens to the canon 5d? Because I know that the 5D doesn't take all lenses the same as the 7d and t2i and such.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

I wasn't aware that you couldn't just mount Nikon glass on a 5D with a simple nikon to EF (eos) converter. I'll ask around and see what I can find out.

  • Brianaichlmayr

I ment that some of the canon lenses will not mount on the 5D because the 5D has a different mounting system or something like that. I had bought a canon lens when I bought the camera and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't mount on the camera. Was later while reading the manual to the actual lens that I found out that, that lens would mount to pretty much all the other cameras (7D and so on) except for the 5D.

Oh, your talking about Canon EF-s lenses… EF-s lenses are design for a small sensor, so they won't really work well with the 5D.

  • U-Type

"so they won't really work well with the 5D. "they DONT work at all. it's physically impossibleEF-S lenses are designed for 1.6x crop cameras, which include all the xxxxD, xxD and 7D camerasthe EF-S lenses are constructed in a way that the back extends a bit further in towards the sensor, therefore using EF-S lenses on a full frame camera (if u hacked the mount and somehow made it possible to mount) the mirror will hit the back of the lens when u take a shot, and rendering ur full frame camera useless

    thanks for explaining this!

  • Cruether

Its simple, because the 7d has a smaller chip, so there work all nikon lenses it has nothing to do with converter ring. .. at 5d and a 20 mm lens you have to crop into the picture .. i think there is also a software which regulate this vignettation effect

I would like to apologize for my ignorance with regards to the issue I'm having with the lens mount questions my lens uses the bayonet mounts found on the Minolta cameras. I think they are also call m42 if that is the case do you sell a mount that will allow the use of the m42 or bayonet mount if im not mistaken the canon 5 6 and 7d uses this same mount?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Hi there, I don't quite understand your questions, but let me explain a bit more the different mounts. Our adapters are made with Canon FD (the old all manual mount) and Canon EF mount (new mount for automatic lenses), If you want to use M42 lenses, then you'll need to get the M42 to Canon EF converter, then get an adapter with a Canon EF mount.

Never tested our adapters on the EX1. I don’t think it’s gonna work for you…. the EX1 or EX3 I believe don’t have the macro function the way consumer cameras do. So you won’t be able to focus on something that’s that close to the lens. In order for it to work you would need to move the adapter further out as well as use bigger optics of course. We don’t have an EX1 or EX3 to test this out and work it out.

  • Kevin Garcia

Unfortunately we only offer the Jag35ST in a FD or Nikon mount. I highly recommend that you go with the FD mount. Canon FD lenses work the best with our adapters because they are all manual lenses. Our adapter has no electronic capabilities so it is best if you can control your lenses manually. Also FD lenses are the most affordable lenses out in the market today. We sell Canon FD 50mm f1.8 lenses for $100 and Canon FD 50mm f1.4 for $140 if you are interested.
