Jag35 Monitor X

acc_monitorx-v2main3

Monitor X is an LCD screen viewing Aid, a shade with magnification. It helps by isolating the image of your LCD screen from external light sources like the Sun when shooting outdoors. It includes a magnifying lens that is cut in a rectangle to fit the shape of most LCD screens found on DSLRs and video cameras. This design does not require the user to place their eye against it preventing eye fatigue and allowing users that wear eye glasses to use the monitor X without removing their glasses.
It will fit most 3″ screens and so far we have tested and found it to fit the following cameras:
Canon 5Dmk2, 7D, 60D, T2i (550D) and Nikon D7000. The Monitor X provides about a 40% magnification of the camera’s LCD display, it will mount using a frame that glues to the camera via double sided 3M tape making the installation and removal a literal snap. It will include 1/4-20 holes on bottom and on top allowing to be mounted using articulating arms. Additional extending frames will be available for people who wear glasses.

That looks awesome. Was wanting something like that my 60d – can the lcd still fold close with the attachment bracket on it?

Also – what shoulder rig is that? I love the angled pad and offset – how much is that exact configuration? Thanks!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, it will work, I believe it will block the proximity censor though.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    That is the Field Runner!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    Yes it’ll work!

  • Adrian

This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for since the 5Ds first started to be used for video – with a hood that is expansive at the opening allowing you to see down and into the viewfinder if like me you’re on the taller side – YOU ROCK Jag35 – bring it on baby!!!!!!!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    Yes, it’ll work no problem.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yeah, that’s the field runner, the only difference is that it’s got a raised railblock, which is not an option when you place your order.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

It definitely helps with critical focusing.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not sure at this point, we’re working hard and fast to get it released, but at this moment, we’re still not sure when’s the release date yet.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Will have more info on this product very soon, still in the works.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Actually, working on an optional adapter frame that will let you mount it to your current Z-Finder mounting frame!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

yes, that’s our new and improved, more ergonomically correct shoulder pad. We ship them this way now.

  • Michael

Is this the same type of technology (macro lens for display) that’s currently being used in the Cinevate Cyclops.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

it’s similar but it’s not an achromat lens.

  • James

will this fit on a t2i?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    Yes, it will.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

  • Bill

nope… it holds it up just fine.

No, not yet. We will post we have more information on the Monitor X shortly.

I placed my order for the Monitor X last night. I just wanted to find out how long before it will be shipped out and when should I look out for it? I’m filming a project next weekend and Im hoping it will arrive before then. Thanks in advance for your response.

  • Jayson

Is this item 20% off today?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

No. It’s free when you buy a Shoulder Rig or a Field Runner kit.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The Monitor X is in Stock and shipping right away, of course, because of the holiday, we will not be shipping Thursday of Friday, so it should be going out by Monday!

  • Totoink

do you lose the close-LCD screen capability when using the plate on a 60D?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You can still close it, but the screen will be facing outward, not inward.

  • Rogerbstillz

    Thanks guys
I dont recall the time period for the shipping. If shipped out on monday should I receive it by friday?

  • Felix

    Hi,
I ordered the monitor a few days ago. Should arrive tomorrow.
I wonder if it would fit on an GH2 too or will there be a special Version of the Monitor X for the Panasonic Cam? It was supposed for my 60 D, but since the GH2 will be THE gamechanger I might get rid of my 60D :)

  • C55palmer

Hi Will the Monitor X fit the Canon 550d /T2. If it will…. do i just order this item or do i need a fixing kit?
    Thanks

  • Chris

    What is the magnification level?

  • Rogerbstillz

I was really looking forward to having my Monitor X before the weekend. My order was placed almost 6days ago & I can understand the holidays which would slow things up a bit but I was told that my order should be going out by monday and its now wednesday & Im just getting confirmation that order was sent out today. Not the happiest camper right now.

  • Tristan

Hi, I was wondering if i ordered this today when I would receive it?

  • james

This looks awesome. What is the magnification of the glass? 2X? 3X?

  • Dazmon81

omg, I missed the last friday deal!!!!!……….NO…………!!!!!

  • MH.

Do you have a cap of inside.
many dust flow in morintor x ,when i takeout of camera to my bag.

  • martin

Hi could i still order on this special?

    Thank you

  • Nikk_la

would this fit on a nikon d7000?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Transit time is usually only a few days, depending on where you are, but within the US it’s usually from 2 – 5 days.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

I don’t think it’ll work. What the size of the LCD on the GH2?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, it’ll work on your T2i, no need for anything different.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Sorry about that, stay tuned for more deals coming soon.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    It’s about 40% magnification

  • martin

is there a way we could be notified if any christmas/ end of year specials pops up?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Sorry about that, we are receiving a high amount of orders, emails and comments on the website, it’s been tough to keep up with it all. We apologize for that, and are working as fast as we can to help improve our shipping times. Sorry again.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Best way to keep track is to follow our twitter for news about upcoming special offers. You can follow @jag35 or @misagarcia

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Sorry for the delay in answering comments, we’ve just been getting a ton of comments and emails, we’re a few days behind still, tryin’ to catch up still.. at the moment it’s taking us about a week to ship Monitor X orders.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    It’s about 40%

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

No, we don’t have a cap for the inside of it, but that’s a good idea, we might consider this.

  • Nightwriter

A little unclear on the mounting process. Is the Monitor-X designed to be permanently on the lcd, or can be added and removed a theoretical infinite number of times with no resulting effect on the unit’s mounting effectiveness?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

not sure what special you are referring to, we’ve done a couple of different special offers, but those usually run only on weekends. Keep checking the website for more weekend deals.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

What’s the LCD Size on that?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The Monitor X is designed to mount with a sticky frame, like a lot of other viewfinders. You apply the sticky frame to your camera’s LCD and leave it there, then you can mount your Monitor X on and off from the camera’s LCD. Only the sticky frame stays on attached to your camera, Hope this helps.

  • Nightwriter

Okay, so if the sticky frame loses its adhesive quality for some reason, what would be your suggestion? Just use off the shelf double sided tape, or you do sell something for this eventuality.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yeah, you can get the 3M double sided tape, but the Monitor X includes a couple of extra adhesive strips in the package.

  • Jehu

Yes we tested this at Photocine Expo on the D7000 and it fit just fine

  • Peter Kreindl

can I use the monitorframe on the Canon 60D and still close the LCD with the shelter side outside?

  • Anonymous

Any plans to bundle the monitor x and the field runner together?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Definitely not. The frame would be in the way, you can close it with the screen side facing outward.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not plans as of now, but we are definitely considering it. Maybe a end of the year special.

  • http://www.designer4play.com jayse

if I use this mounting frame – does the frame also support the z-finder? I’d like to switch between them. Thanks!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

No it doesn’t work that way, we are definitely thinking about making an adapter frame that will allow you to use the Monitor X on a Z-Finder frame, but it’s not ready

  • http://www.designer4play.com jayse

    that would be beyond awesome!

  • slimyu21

hello! i ordered the Monitor X two weeks ago and still have not received the package or shipping information. What is the wait time for the Monitor X upon ordering?

  • Bhavesh

There is a video of photo suit expo in the video section of monitor x… it shows a different kind of a view-finder which can rotate and can be adjusted at different level also. It is different from what is shown in other two videos. when is it getting launched? Do you ship in India too?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Your order is going out with todays mail. sorry for the delay but your payment hadn’t cleared ’till yesterday!

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

I believe your talking about the video that shows the Canon 60D. That camera has a swivel LCD included already, it’s already available: http://amzn.to/hiE2Ky

  • Rwood

Hi. Just got monitor-x. What are the threaded areas intended for? Thanks

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

It’s a 1/4-20 thread in case you have something you wanna mount to it, we included this just in case, we haven’t really used it for anything specific.

  • Jamestownfilm

Hi, Does this fit on a GH1/

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

what’s the LCD Size of the GH1?

  • Dsphotography

I have been looking for something like that also. I have the z-finder frame mounted to my cameras and sometimes I would like just a hood when I am using a slider or a steadicam.

  • Jamestownfilm

    3.0″.
Sorry, should have read the description.

  • martin

Hi Misa, any christmas specials yet?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not for the Monitor X, but we will be posting an early pre-production Electronic Follow Focus Sale later today.

  • http://twitter.com/Anita189 Ana

is this still available? Can i purchase it on January?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You can purchase it now, it ships right away.

  • Dillonp23

Just bought one and love it! Just curious in the first video how did he mount the H4n on the field runner? Thanks

  • Michael

Are additional mounting frames available for purchase

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not yet, we’re working on it, should have them soon.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

We usually mount the Zoom using a Single Railblock: http://jag35.com/new/products/single-railblock/ and a Ballhead: http://jag35.com/new/products/ballhead-mount/ or an accessory arm: http://jag35.com/new/products/accessory-arm/

  • Cyrus1527

I’m looking for a sharp high quality lens for my 7D for both video and photography. I checked out the product page here:
    http://web.me.com/jehug/Products/Lenses.html

I had a few questions…unfortunately no one responded. My questions are:

-What are the 2 best 50mm lenses you guys sell?
    -Do I need adapters?
-How long will it take for me to receive the lens once I order? I’m in Chicago.
    -Any other lens recommendations?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Hi, we don’t really sell lenses. We only offer a few lenses for people who use 35mm adapters with their camcorders. So we only have a few used Canon FD 50mm f1.4 and f1.8 lenses. For your 7D your better off getting a Canon EF lens. The best one would probably be the 50mm f1.2 You can find one on Amazon: http://amzn.to/dSPQbw

  • pk

i nned it by thursday…. do u overnight

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

We have an option when you place your order, for rush delivery. We usually ship it same day if you order early enough and it’s in stock. Monitor X is in stock, so we should be able to ship it out right away. If you order it rush delivery, we ship USPS Express, which should be business day.

  • Leosilve

Hi, any ETA on the monitor x version that can mount on a Z-finder frame? I could really use. My Z-finder frame and gorilla plate are always connected to my 7D. its hard to use something else with it that I have to dismantle the Z-finder frame and plate.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Actually… should be available very soon… last I heard was, they’re on their way to us, so expect them on the site very soon.

  • Timmidgett

  • Bill

What are the mounting options for the 60D?

  • Fco Bencosme

Hi, Does this fit on the 60D ?

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

    Yes it should fit.

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

We only have the sticky frame which will work.

  • jeff

I’m having problems with the weight of the Monitor X being too heavy for the sticky adhesive, and it keeps falling off of my 60d LCD display. Is there any way to secure the monitor to the camera body without it falling off?

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

if you are using the sticky frame it came with it might be that you applied it wrong. If the sticky part unsticks from the camera then you applied it wrong or to a dirty screen.
If the frame sticks but the Monitor X falls off that means you probably received a faulty frame which in that case we can replace it

  • Javier

Please, could anyone let me know if this item inludes the mounting frame? Thank you

  • Arte

Is this compatible with the canon 7d?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes it includes extender frames and a sticky mounting frame.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    Yes of course.

  • Rafael Kent

Hello i wanna know how the monitor is attached in the camera? We need to paste the monitor with something like a glue?

  • Rafael Kent

Hello i wanna know how the monitor is attached in the camera? We need to paste the monitor with something like a glue?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The Monitor X unit comes with a sticky frame, you attach the frame using the provided double sided tape to the back of your camera’s LCD, then you can attach the Monitor X on and off from the camera.

  • Drmonroe

One of my favorite features of my 60D is that I can fold the LCD screen in, facing the camera for protection. I’ve read that with the mounting frame, I won’t be able to do that. Is there any way for me to use the Monitor X and still be able to close the LCD?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Only if you wanna try and remove the sticky frame everything it’s not in use, which I don’t really see feasible. The other option is to try and mount the Monitor X using the 1/4-20 threaded holes on it, using either an accessory arm or a Z-finder frame gorilla plate from Zacuto, but you’ll be losing the ability to move your LCD around, which is the great thing about the 60D.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

No, its a different screen ratio.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes everything in picture 8 is included in the package.

  • Oleg Dobritsa

Hi, I’m running out of 3m tape, where can I get more?
also, I have a 60D and it seem the sticky frame is a bit larger than 60D’s LCD screen.  While it is possible to tape it on, I find it not as secure.  Is there a solution to it?  Thanks

  • Anonymous

Hi, There is another way for you to mount the Monitor X, You would need a Gorilla Plate: http://jag35.com/gorillaplate.html and Monitor X Z Frame Adapter: http://jag35.com/zframeadapter.html and you will also need Z-Finder Mounting Frame. All of these pieces are required if you do not want to use the sticky frame. If you order the items I recommended to you, the Monitor X will be against the screen of your camera

  • Anonymous

Im sorry about the 3m tape, I don’t know of a place I can recommend to you

  • Anonymous
