For those of us who are considering your cage system, it is critical to know the answer to this..Many of us have watched the great progress of your work on this rig, how about this final hurdle?

We have considered doing something for the GH1, we like it and would like to include support, but there has been some issue concerning the placement of the battery and also, the moveable LCD screen, one of the posts stop it from opening all the way! Maybe we'll do it, if enough people ask us for it.

I think it'd be a good idea for those who want to mount a matte box…but then again maybe it could be done with the 6". I'm no expert. It's a nice looking tripod plate system. Nice work.

Seams to me the old system got more bang for the buck, on the handles you were getting 2 12' rods and the Focus for a lot cheaper. I must be missing something here. I see the tripod plate but would it be a better bundle just to tack the plate on to the old bundle, or wait till the plate is sold separately and buy that with the old bundle?

Can the handles and a follow focus be mounted to the bottom rails at the same time?

And, as for the comments about the value for bundles…I just want to recommend that every compare your products to the cost of RedRock and Zacuto–A DSLR follow focus for $1300!! What?!? Now, it makes more sense if you are shooting with an Arri or Zeiss lens, but most of us are not. I borrowed a Jag35 rig and follow focus for my 7D from a friend to shoot a wedding and reception last weekend. It worked flawlessly on everything from a 135mm prime to a 28mm prime. In fact, the friend I borrowed it from sold his zacuto rig and got a JAG setup along with a really nice monitor. So, having used this equipment– fully loaded with a mic, portable recorder, 8" monitor and handle–I can happily say that it is EXACTLY what I needed for my 7D and at a price that is just INSANE! Some $4000 less than redrock or zacuto. Thanks Misa and everyone at Jag35!

And, as for the comments about the value for bundles…I just want to recommend that every compare your products to the cost of RedRock and Zacuto–A DSLR follow focus for $1300!! What?!? Now, it makes more sense if you are shooting with an Arri or Zeiss lens, but most of us are not. I borrowed a Jag35 rig and follow focus for my 7D from a friend to shoot a wedding and reception last weekend. It worked flawlessly on everything from a 135mm prime to a 28mm prime. Since I ordered the 1d cage version, can I adjust the height of the vertical support rods to just fit the 5d (no grip)? I ask because if I'm not using the 1d/5d with grip, I want the cage to be as low profile and solid as possible.

Why couldn't you just design the cage so you can add extender posts to raise the cage height to accommodate a battery grip.This should work nicely so you can use the T2i cage with the grip (extended) or without the grip (normal T2i cage).This way you get the best of both worlds, without buying an over sized cage. Which BTW the oversized cage won't work properly on the T2i, because the battery compartment is in the wrong position, correct?I'm kind of bummed about this, because I was waiting for a cage for the t2i that could take the battery grip. Yes, it should work fine, you might however, need to mount the D|Focus from the top of the cage. Install your rods on the top of the cage and then mount your D|focus from the top rods.

Hi Misa,I'm v v interested in your rigs. I'm keen on bundling the DSLR Cage, full shoulder rig, follow focus, monitor, top handle, base plate and support rods (monitor). I'm reading that the follow focus is one hot item and back orders are only now being filled. I'm shooting a swag of training videos in late July in Thailand and I'm wondering (read hoping) that if I order all the above would I have any chance of delivery to Thailand before say July 25? I'll be shooting with the Canon 5D II with additional battery pack. I guess I'd need Cage option 3 to handle this. Would the items all ship together and what sort of shipping costs would be involved (roughly). Your gear is far and away the best option in my opinion and I've done a heap of research on other rigs and JAG35 comes up the winner. Keep up the good work. Love this site also, very informative!

The T2i would fit just fine in the 7D Cage… you'll just have a bit of extra room above the hot show, not a problem.

You can mount the CAGE directly to a tripod plate. I haven't tried mounting it with just a rail block, but I would think that there isn't much space for the tripod plate on a single railblock. Try it and let us know how that works out for you.

There's a couple of bugs with mounting your GH1 on the current cage configuration, we might be working on a different configuration to fit the GH1 if there's enough of a demand. Look for an upcoming post about this

Will any of these fit the t2i with a battery grip?

We don't really support battery grips. There's too many different brands with different dimensions.

I'm trying to set up a 3D rig with 2 – 5Dmk2's with the option of one of them upside down to get them closer. Would two cages with one upside down allow the lens to line up horizontally? Maybe I could get longer rails to put the two together with the grips. Any ideas? Is there a way to lock the follow focus together?

Never attempted this, but I don’t see why you couldn’t do it, you can use rods and railblocks to attach the two cages together. not sure what you mean by locking the the follow focus together, give it a shot and let us know how that works.

We're currently not selling the tall cage for battery grips… too many different variables, depending on which battery grip you're using, it might not fit the cage.

Just curious if the Zacuto gorilla plate, height extenders and offset problem has a solution yet.If so ,you will have my money in minutes.I actually want the cage so I can mount it to an inverted stedicam for low mode.Do you see any problems with the top plate connecting to the slide plate on the upside down stedicam.

The solution is not completed yet. We're working on this issue now, we have prototype parts that need to be revised, should have them complete within 2 weeks or so.

not sure that will work, you’ll also need a the two bottom plates and you would need to take it apart and re-apply glue to the stand-offs, it’s not an easy upgrade, might be easier and worth just getting the new Cage design.

I’m confused I have the gorilla plate and the frame. The new quick release looks slightly different then the one I have now. Is it that drastically different then the old one? Having to buy another cage Would bring me up 2 300.00 bucks in cages I plan to get rid of the t2i shortly so it docent make sense to do that right now. I guess I’ll make do with the sticky frame for now. I hate that thing, it makes cleaning the screen more difficult.

I’m sorry I didn’t realize you already had a quick release Cage. If you already have a cage that has the quick release plate, then yeah, you should be able to just get the new quick release plate along and use it with your current cage, no problems. Will be posting them very soon so you can buy it alone.

No you will need to order the 5D/7D cage for the canon 60D. The t2i Cage is to small for the 60D.

Probably not, they’re not designed to work together, if you have the DSLR Cage, then you can just get the Bottom Rods to mount the D|Focus straight to the rods, I think this is better option: http://jag35.com/new/products/bottom-rods/

i read in earlier comments that you do not support battery grips, but could you give me the height dimensions of the 7D/5D cage? the 550D is a fairly small camera and even with the battery grip not a whole lot of height is added.

It won’t fit in the Cage. The 550D IS a smaller camera, but it’s not much smaller. The inside of the Cage measures 4-7/8″

No it is not, we designed the Cage with the Canon camera in mind. The Cage easy access compartments will only work with the Canon 5D/7D/60D and T2I.

Hello, as you write in the description, there is may be three different versions of the cage. But there is not possible to select every each version in drop down menu. Only DSLR cage & DSLRcage /w Zfinder mount. How I can select the smaller version for T2i?

Sorry about that, we no longer offer the smaller T2i Version, you can still use the regular size Cage for your smaller camera.

Yeah probably.. there’s no need for the gorilla plate inside the Cage… the Cage has it’s own quick release plate, and even a version that accepts the Z-Finder Mounting frame.
