I use this base plate with both a 7D and a T2i - I've somehow managed to lose track of the little diagram with the pin configurations for different cameras, any chance you guys could email me a copy?

cheers,

Kim

You can the DSLR Stand without the rails here: http://jag35.com/products/dslrproducts/dslrstand.html
If you do not want this bundle together you would have to but the items individually.

You can definitely do it... but you are correct, it will raise the lens significantly and now the distance between the rods and the lens will be different. Mounting a Follow Focus unit, should still be possible, by using a rod Riser railblock (http://j35.us/rodriser)
However, a Mattebox is a different story, the Mattebox requires pretty exact measurements, so depending on which quick release plate you use, I'm pretty sure you'll lose that distance.

We are definitely considering on a new DSLR Stand that will work with the T2i/T3i and Panasonic GH2
