Is the height of the baseplate adjustable? If so, this could easily be used with a standard rod support system, to be able to support the JAG35SP when using a prosumer camcorder.

May i know what’s the different between jag35 rods & zacuto rods? does jag35 rods features inner screw threads for future adding rods length like zacuto? thanks

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, the Jag35 rods are threaded now, so you can extend them with this piece: http://jag35.com/new/products/jag35-rod-connector/

The main difference between Jag35 and Zacuto rods is that the Zactuto rods are hollow aluminum which means they weight less, making your rig a lot lighter, also, the other thing about the Zacuto rods, they are machine to perfection, which means they hold their tolerances across the board, so when working with them, adjusting your railblocks and devices, they will slide up and down the rods smoothly. They’re a bit more expensive, but in our opinion, definitely worth it, it’s why we offer our rigs with Zacuto rods.

  • Gerry

Can I use this with the Red Rock micro Matte Box? And will I be able to attach the Follow focus to it as well?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, all the distances are worked out, all industry standards.

  • Mrwinckler

Does this base plate mount to a tripod or will I need another piece?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

this baseplate already comes with a tripod plate, the bottom plate allows you to mount your quick release plate for your tripod.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

We like the affordable line of Manfrotto tripods, right now I’m excited about the 701HDV head, which has been working great for me, because it’s so small and compact that I can take it anywhere. Follow Focus we offer the most affordable one on our site for $139 – http://jag35.com/new/products/dfocus/ and shoulder mount, we have three options, the field runner starting at $279 if you’re gonna be using a viewfinder, or the full shoulder rig which starts at $649 – http://jag35.com/new/products/shoulder-rig/

or if you plan on shooting with an external monitor, then go with the Straight rig. Includes a monitor and monitor battery for $779 – http://jag35.com/new/products/shoulder-rig/

    Hope this helps.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The D|Focus weights 13oz. so weight isn’t really the issue for this type of rig. As far as the tripod legs, it’s really not a big deal, for the most part, they are good, just pick a decent size, we have the really small ones and I’m completely happy with them for most of the stuff we shoot, a good mid size is the 190XBD.

You really don’t need more than one D|Gear, but a lot of our clients are using multiple lenses in the their shoots, and want to be able to have the gears setup on the lens ready to go, so they can easily switch lenses while shooting and not have to worry about preparing the lens with a gear on the field.

If you want to mount the field runner to a tripod, all you need to do is use one of these pieces: http://jag35.com/new/products/tripod-plate/

That should be it. Hope this helps.

The D|Focus is not included in any of our bundles at the moment. You’ll have to order that separately. And you can mount any rig to a tripod with the tripod plate: http://jag35.com/new/products/tripod-plate/ it’s basically a flat surface that allows you to attach your tripod quick release plate.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

It might, if it does, you can use the D|Riser kit to raise the D|Focus gearbox. http://jag35.com/new/products/driser/

  • http://www.facebook.com/philhoyt Phil Hoyt

Is there a 1/4 thread on the bottom of this guy?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

it includes the Tripod Plate which consists of a flat surface with 1/4-20 thread, so you can mount your tripod quick release plate.

  • Spokanevideo

    Are these shipping now?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

    Yes, these are shipping now!

  • Jason

Can you get this without rods?

  • Kevin Garcia

    Hi Jason,
Yes you can order the parts separately, the DSLR Stand : http://jag35.com/new/products/dslr-stand/
and the Tripod plate : http://jag35.com/new/products/tripod-plate/

  • http://twitter.com/shotsi673 Tonii Gramsci

I have a 7D and the Z-Finder Pro with the Gorilla plate. I have a Manfrotto tripod with the Manfrotto 701 Fluid head. I would like to purchase the D|Focus V3 what plate would I need to make all this work on both my tripod and in a handheld situation with the tripod situation being the main priority at this stage.
    Thanks in advance

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

This DSLR Baseplate would be your best option, however, we do have an update coming very soon, so you can mount your Gorilla plate direct to the DSLR Stand, should be available this coming week.

  • Sharyharan

I myself just ordered this baseplate, and follow focus v3. Did i make a bad decision since there is a new update coming soon in a week? Will i be able to get that upgrade if i can wait? Please let me know. I would be willing to get the latest one. Thanks misa!

  • Sharyharan

why is this $10 price difference if we buy them seperately? The combo is suppose to be less priced than the individual one right? I am confused…

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The update will only be optional, and it’s only good if you plan to use your Zacuto Gorilla plate with it, otherwise, you won’t be able to use the updated option.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Your confused. I’m not sure how your doing the math. Buyin’ the pieces individually is more expensive, you save a bit if you buy it as a kit.

  • Jose Arce

Hi, this baseplate come with all, like the picture above. Or is only the rods and the base?

  • Mattias W

    Hi guys!
Hmmm… I’ll try this again, and hope I don’t make a complete fool out of myself!
Is it possible to use the BasePlate together with a Canon HFS20 and the JAG35 Pro?
If so, can I also use The D-Focus or is there gonna be a problem with measurements… (or to much weight hanging from camera)?
    Thankful for an answer

  • Gavin

I just want to say that I have this Baseplate and the D Focus 3, and I’m loving both products. I’ll be ordering one more of each tomorrow!

  • http://twitter.com/shotsi673 Tonii Gramsci

I saw that and it looks like the perfect fit as you say I use the Gorilla plate most of the time. Do you know how much the Gorilla baseplate will be priced at? Approx? From what I see this will come with rods or facility for the rods? Thanks in advance

  • Cory

I would like to order one of your baseplates, and the DFocus, but I have a Gorilla Plate. I need a follow focus by December 23rd. Is my best bet to order the follow focus now so I can get “in line” for it, or should I wait for the Gorilla Plate Adapter? In other words, is there any benefit to waiting to order it all together (e.g. discount, you can only order the Gorilla Plate Adapter with a Baseplate, etc.)
    Thanks.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not sure which picture your looking at, but the DSLR Baseplate includes the Rods, the Tripod Plate and the DSLR Stand.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UQ7NOYHF75BC6UAQLE5EVMZV4U jose

    Thanks…

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Well… there’s a couple of problems. The DSLR Baseplate was design to be used with DSLR cameras, not video camcorders, so you might have problems with heights. Also, we are no longer accepting orders for Jag35Pro adapters. I suggest you go with the Jag35SP. You’ll definitely need some kind of support rods in order to use the D|Focus with your setup.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

we have the stand ready to go, just haven’t had time to prepare a kit which includes rods and stuff… coming soon: http://jag35.com/new/products/quick-release-dslr-stand/

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You should definitely order the D|Focus asap, to get in the waiting list for it, as far as the Gorilla plate adapter, will definitely update the website within the next few days so you can order the baseplate together with this option, instead of havin’ to order it separately.

  • Riggy0520

Hi, I already have the rods is there any way I can order the baseplate with out the rods included?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, you can order a DSLR Stand:
    http://jag35.com/new/products/dslr-stand/
and you can order the Tripod Plate:
    http://jag35.com/new/products/tripod-plate/

  • mk

    Hi, how different 6″ 8″ & 12″
    How can I choose

    Can you ship to Thailand?

  • Mattias W

    Thanx for your response!
Unfortunately (no,no… don’t get me wrong! I’m more than satisfied) I already own the JAG35 Pro.
I just think your products look cool and seem to be really high quality and if I only had enough dough, I’d probably buy your complete stock! Great job!
    Regards: M.W.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

That refers to the length of the rods on the DSLR Baseplate. You might want to use longer rods if you plan to use longer lenses. Make your selection before you press the add to cart button. Yes we ship our products worldwide.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You don’t have any support rods for your rig?

  • Justin Davey

    Hi

I am interested in this, together with the Rod Riser as I have a T2i with battery grip. For the Canon 70 to 200 lens, how long would you recommend the rods be? Would I get away with 6″ for the base plate and a further 3″ for the riser (if they were mounted outwards right at the end of the 6″ rods). I obviously need the DFocus to reach the lens which is around 6″ to the focus ring I would have thought.

    Many thanks

  • mk

    I use cannon lens 70-200mm
    Can I use 8″?
    or 12″ is better?

    Thank you

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

I believe that would work fine, we have tested a setup with the 70-200mm using the 8″ rods and it works just fine, now with the rod riser after 6″ inches and then 3″ more, you should be ok. Hope this helps.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

It’ll work with 8″ rods fine… 12″ will give you plenty of space, not actually necessary.

  • Brian

I’m interested in this, but I have long lens and need some lens support. Do you have a stirrup of some sort that will attack to the rods to take the stress off my camera?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You mean rod support for the lens? We don’t actually have that. We haven’t had anyone request this. How long are your lenses? A lot of our clients are using 70-200mm lenses with a 8″ rods and a follow focus mounted to the bottom rods, without any issues. Are you referring to longer lenses than that?

  • http://twitter.com/Celosbeats Celos Beats

i have one question before i but the order out. Is this the piec e i need to start everything? i have a T2i and wanna just build around it. is this the perfect starting piece. after that im a put the order out for the dfocus. but today im order this. just get back to me. oh and another question, sorry. is this gonna be here before christmas. how long for it to get here. im in NY, NY

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes, this is a great starting piece, you can build up to a full shoulder rig from this piece. If you place your order today, depending on your options, we should be shipping it out sometime next week, it’s taking us from 3 – 5 work days to ship out products that are in stock.

  • TH

I am interested in this now, and build it into a rig later. It’d be pretty cool if there was a Field Runner upgrade kit (or other rig), that provided all the pieces to build this one up into a shoulder rig in one order.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Definitely in the works. We’ve been thinking about it, just haven’t had time to work on it, but we’ll definitely have it up soon.

  • http://twitter.com/mbaluk Mark Baluk

Does this baseplate still provide the old DSLR Stand or does it use the one pictures on here: http://jag35.com/new/products/dslr-stand/

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The DSLR Baseplate ships out with the new DSLR Stand like the one you see on this page: http://jag35.com/new/products/dslr-stand/

Just haven’t had time to update this picture, sorry we’ll get to it soon.

  • Justyn Rowe

I’m interested in this baseplate. Is the height adjustable? Will it work with the Gh2? I have pretty much everything else but this… Thanks

    justyn

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Height isn’t adjustable, but it’s been worked out so it works with most cameras, so you can mount a Follow Focus and a Mattebox. We don’t have a GH2 to test out or anything, but our friend Dave, the designer for the D|Focus uses our Baseplate with his GH1 without issues. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

  • Avalonglobalmedia

    Hi,

just need to know one thing before placing my order:
can you connect the Baseplate onto your tripod just like that or do you need another
adapter plate, screw etc. to do that?

    Thanks

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

The DSLR Baseplate already includes the Tripod Plate piece, which is basically a flat surface with a 1/4-20 hole so you can screw in your tripod quick release plate and mount it directly to your tripod.

  • Louis

Just wanted to say, I just got this in the mail today along with the Dfocus system and I am extremely impressed with the quality to the price ratio. This baseplate construction rivals even the Zacuto baseplate. Thanks for the support for us low budget film makers =] God bless.

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

    Thanks!

  • Nervoushousedwellers

Does this baseplate allow for battery change on the Canon 5D and 7D? Thanks, Jeremy

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

Yes it does, just not on T2i.

  • Johndoukas

    What length of rods would I need with a 5D mark 2 and a 70-200 f/4 lens?

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

    12 inches.

  • Johndoukas

    Thanks.
What about the Canon 85mm 1.2L? Would that lens require anything to make it fit with the baseplate and the d|focus?

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

    8 inches and you’ll need a D|Gear.

  • Johndoukas

    Sorry to be complicated :)

I have a range of lenses from a 35mm to a 70-200. If i was to use one set of rods, would I be fine getting the 8″ or better to get the 12″? I would pair the baseplate with the d|focus. I would be swapping out lenses.

  • http://jag35.com Stacie

    12 inches.

  • Pepe Ronnie

What’s the overall weight of this item (two baseplates and the two bars combine
    together) ?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Depends on which rods you use. Can be anywhere from 10oz – 20oz

  • KevinG

I have a Canon t2i with a 50mm f1.4 I just purchased the D|Focus and the gears. I’m looking to get this support rod system but I was wondering if there is anything that is essential to buy along with this.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not really, this is the missing piece to seamlessly mount your D|Focus to your Canon T2i Camera

  • Jrh454s

I just got this and mine has the 3 holes for a pin to keep the camera from rotating, however all 3 holes have a pin screwed into them and it keeps the camera from sitting level when attached to the baseplate. What method would you suggest to removing 2 of the offending holes.

  • Drmonroe72

I just watched the review of the straight rig on your facebook page. It mentioned that you guys might be working on a new baseplate with a more convenient mounting screw– is there any truth to this? if so when might it be coming out?

Is it possible to just buy the base minus the tripod plate and rods? I already have the full shoulder rig with cage. I do not want to use the cage anymore so I need the base plate. How much for the plate alone?

  • Janyon

Really happy with quality for price. Only thing I would upgrade is to carbon rods as the ali ones are a little sticky being metal on metal. Love the products

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Thanks, definitely considering Carbon Rods, hopefully real soon.

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Yes and yes… the DSLR Baseplate, already includes a Tripod Plate, which is basically a flat surface which you can use to mount your tripods quick release plate.

You can attach any accessory arm or ballhead anywhere on the rods, using our Single Railblock (http://j35.us/singlerb)

  • Synchromancer

Can I get this with 12″ rods instead of the 6″ rods? What would that cost?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

yes you can, if you click on the add to cart button you’ll see the option for this, or you can just go here: j35.us/dslrbase

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

You can definitely do it… but you are correct, it will raise the lens significantly and now the distance between the rods and the lens will be different. Mounting a Follow Focus unit, should still be possible, by using a rod Riser railblock (http://j35.us/rodriser)
However, a Mattebox is a different story, the Mattebox requires pretty exact measurements, so depending on which quick release plate you use, I’m pretty sure you’ll lose that distance.

We are definitely considering on a new DSLR Stand that will work with the T2i/T3i and Panasonic GH2

  • Anonymous

    they are 14.94 mm
