Are these mounting plates made of plastic or metal? Can I use them to bring hand-grip on them?

Which hand-grip are you referring to? If you mean the old base plate: http://jag35.com/solutions.html Then no, this won't work. This Plate is only for the new Jag35 DSLR Cage.

Can this be used to attach directly to the camera? If not is there anyway to use the DFocus without rails nor the cage?
    Thanks

no, the D|Focus can be mounted directly to your camera without the need of rods or the DSLR cage, but not with this DSLR Plate, you'll need to use the DSLR Mount, it should be available on the D|Focus page, as one of the accessories, called, D|Mount.

If the DIFocus mountis attached, can I then use a tripod quick release plate as well. I want to use the DFocus attached to the cage and mounted on a tripod.

I'm wondering with the cage/shoulder mount unit, and the follow focus as shown above, is there anyway to get a matte box in this configuration?

  • http://misagarcia.com Misa Garcia

Not sure which picture you're looking at, but if you have rods under your setup, like bottom rods, you can mount a follow focus no problem.
