Yes, you can mount it on any tripod. Just screw on your tripod plate to the 1/4-20 thread under the D|Mount. Will try and post a video about this very soon.

I really wish I could add a quick release plate (monopod) to the DMount. I really like how small and simple it is compared to the DSLR baseplate which is too big even for the confined/crowded places I work in. Rods just get in the way. Please tell me it is possible. Do I see a spare 1/4-20 thread on the mount in photos 7 to 10?

You can add quick release plate to the bottom of the D|Plate! shouldn't be a problem.

D|Mount should be available in about 2 weeks or so. you can't pre-order it.

The D|Mount was designed to be used at the bottom of a DSLR, it might work on a video camera but we haven't tested this, your welcomed to try, but I think your better off using rod support below your camera.

it will work with the new D|Focus Riser kit, should be available later this week.

I don’t think so. You can try to do it with the D|Riser kit, which would bring your D|Focus gear box higher, but you might still need more height, if that’s the case, then you can use a DSLR Baseplate, with a Rod Riser, to bring up your D|Focus and then still use the D|Riser to elevate the gear box even more. Hope this helps.

Can the D|Mount & follow focus be used with Really Right Stuff L-plates (dovetail type)on a RRS BH-55 ballhead with tripod …. or even a RRS flat dovetail plate & Gimbal with tripod?

I really wouldn’t know, we haven’t tested them, but I can’t see why they wouldn’t work.

Have you considered mounting the D|Focus with a DSLR Baseplate (j35.us/baseplate) instead of the D|Mount, it’s a great way to start building up your rig, also let’s you mount straight to a tripod and you can mount virtually anything to the rods using our single railblocks (j35.us/single-rb) these are all in stock, just an idea.

I received my D/focus, D/gear and D/mount yesterday 3/14 (yeah!) after some careful study of the video and pics on http://www.dfocussystem.com/dslr.html I found a way to make everything work/fit without purchasing a D/riser for my T2i, battery grip and 30mm sigma lens.

Issue I’m having:
The D/mount when tightly attached to my battery grip or camera still swivels. This swiveling is great when needing fine adjustment but becomes a problem when I’ve adjust everything perfectly and need to lock the mount in place so it doesn’t swivel.
Even when I hold the D/mount in place, when using the follow focus (especially a faster pull) the camera will swivel ever so slightly but noticeable in a big way when watching from live view or play back. I even attached a quick release to the D/mount and then attached to my shoulder rig, thinking gravity would help stop the swiveling, NO GO!
1. Is there a way to stop the D/mount from swiveling?
2. Is the Dfocus and Dmount meant to be used handheld? or design for a rig?
3. Would I be better off returning for the dslr baseplate?
