Dear JAG35:My JAG35SP just arrived and I'm wanting to align but I'm not sure which screws to adjust with the allen key…Can you fill me in.Thanks so much

PLEASE HELP!….I just got my Jag35Pro today. First, one of the allen screws was missing upon delivery, later I found it in the bag. The screw did not thread into the hole so I had to just use one allen screw to hold it into the proper position. I went to get my first test shots and everything was ok with just using the one screw. Later on the day I reattached the adapter to get more test footage , again just using the one allen screw and now that one is not threading into either holes. Both screws would not screw into either holes. The allen screws are not stripped as I was gentle with them, looking into the holes with a bright light, it almost looks like there aren't any thread lines. I worked extra hours for the last two months just to save enough to buy this adapter and I feel so disappointed. I looked forward to this for so long and now I cant even use it. I thread the adapter all the way and the box always positions it self on the bottom of my Canon HV40 which it wouldn't be a problem, but when its position there you could see a round black shadow which I believe it's the vibrator mechanism inside the adapter because when I position it to the side, it disappears, but I have tried positioning the adapter many ways to see if it threads all the way and by chance stops on the side, but it always stop in the bottom. I cant position it on the side and leave it there because when focusing, the whole barrel moves because it is not looked into place. I am very frustrated and disappointed. Please understand my frustration. I'm by no far "well off". I'm just your average 9-5 working father of 2 children. Yea this was expensive, but I worked hard and saved up for it. Making sure that when it was charged that I would have the money to pay for immediately, now I feel like I have a $500 product that I can't use. I really love what the Jag35pro does, but I would have liked it to be more functionally reliable. What are your suggestions?…Is this an average issue with your product?…Did I received one that is defective?…Can It be replaced with a properly functional one, or would I have to return it for a full refund?….Like I said, I really looked forward to owning this product and I would love to resolve this issue promptly. Acording to cnet reviews, the Sony SR1 has a filter thread of 30mm…. so don't order the Jag35SP w/ 58mm threads, get the one with 37mm threads, and then you'll have to get a 30mm to 37mm step up ring. You should be able to find these on ebay pretty cheap, do a quick search.

Very quick, before I send a lens back. Is it normal for the little motor in the vibrating Jag35Pro to cause a big black splotch on the screen that I have to zoom past? If this is something I can fix, can you recommend an idea?

The black splotch caused by the motor is usually fixed by rotating the adapter and aligning it at the best possible place where you can see the motor less, then after that you'll still might need to zoom in to get past the vignette.

Well if you plan to use the Baseplate for now, you can still use the included rods as bottom rods on the DSLR Cage v2. You'll just need a couple of railblocks

I dont know, we don't support Sony lenses. I don't have any sony lenses and have never used them. Our adapters come with a Canon EF (eos) or Canon FD lenses and we offer a Nikon to EF (EOS) converter We also offer Pentax to EF converters but that's it. You would have to find a Whatever your lens mount is converter to Canon EF (EOS)

The gear rings on my DFocus do not fit my Canon 70-200 F4 lens – very odd. The small legs are too small and the medium size legs make the gear ring unable to close, so they are too large. How do I fix this without resorting to a hack. This lens is very popular so I am surprised.

Really any of our adapters will work on your camera. If your asking which one we think will give you the best results, I would recommend the Jag35SP. Just make sure you order it with a 58mm thread

For the 70-200 lens, you don't need to use any of the small legs… you can mount the D|Gear without legs at all.

You will need to order the thread size that will fit your camera, so you'll need to figure out what your camera's filter thread is.nAccording to this page: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hdd-avchd-hard-disk… camera has a 30mm filter thread, so you'll need to order the adapter with a 37mm thread and you'll still need to get a 30mm to 37mm step up ring, in order to screw the adapter to your camera's thread. You can find those rings on ebay, fairly cheap.

Yes, you would tighten by rotating the handle.

Great! But in the side handles, I do see some fasteners on the handles… are they different handles or just an additional knob on top of regular handle. 1. Your HFs20 has a 58mm thread I believe, so you should go with the 40mm achromat.
2. Lens Size, the Jag35Pro bundle already includes a lens, so I suggest you go with the Canon FD 50mm f1.4
3. For thread you just have to be sure you select the 58mm option.

The only other thing you might wanna get, but you can always add it later, is the Rod support. Something like this to mount your rig on. http://jag35.com/new/products/support-rods/

I just want to say that I am very impressed with the D-Focus. I just received it last week and was able to use it a little this weekend and must say that it makes focusing with a DSLR much easier. After ordering it, and anxiously awaiting it's arrival, I looked at reviews of some follow focus' on the market and I wasn't sure what I was getting into by going with the more affordable D-Focus. Having never used a follow focus at all before this weekend, I would have to say that the D-Focus is extremely sufficient, and see no reason to spend the extra $300 just to get the next step up Red Rock Micro version. Just thought some people would want to know if they were wondering. Great product.

I really would suggest you go with the 8″ rods when you buy your DSLR baseplate, they’re not very big and with the 8″ you’ll be able to mount long lenses like the 70-200 and not worry about extending rods, it’s probably your best solution, you’ll still be able to extend rods if needed, but chances are you wont.

The main difference between Jag35 and Zacuto rods is that the Zactuto rods are hollow aluminum which means they weight less, making your rig a lot lighter, also, the other thing about the Zacuto rods, they are machine to perfection, which means they hold their tolerances across the board, so when working with them, adjusting your railblocks and devices, they will slide up and down the rods smoothly. They’re a bit more expensive, but in our opinion, definitely worth it, it’s why we offer our rigs with Zacuto rods.

The white piece you see in the 5 – 6 picture, is a new piece we’re working on, it’ll be a quick release version of the DSLR Base Stand, so you can quickly remove it from the rods. It’s not available just yet.

I highly recommend that you go with our newest adapter the Jag35SP. The adapter is our break through adapter when it comes to the best looking footage with a DOF adapter. What makes the Jag35SP so great is the kind of motor used in the adapter, the SP as a high speed spinning GG screen inside of it off of which your camera will focus off of, what the spinning does is it gets rid of all the grain that the GG screen causes. My flip hack is broken for the second time. I sent it in for repair last time and I didn’t think that this would be a recurring problem…the screen goes blank when I switch it to flip the image upside down, and now I’m unable to film correctly with the adapter. Anyway, about your fliphack, it should be a fairly simple fix if your willing to open up your camera and re-solder the cables that came loose. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, ship it out to us and we’ll fix it for you. Not sure why on your camera it keeps coming off, we didn’t really have that problem with most other cameras.

Not just yet, but we’re working on it, very very soon, within a few weeks, we’ll have a full display of our products at Birns And Sawyers in Burbank. Nothing in the OC yet.

You can probably do it with a Railblock, but you won’t have any adjustment. That system isn’t available to working with other systems, especially systems with rods. I’m not sure there’s an easy way, are you pretty attached to the IDC? have you checked out the D|Focus: http://jag35.com/new/products/dfocus/

I looked at that product, thanks for sending the link. Do you know if you can use it to zoom as well as pull focus? Not at the same time but by moving its position? I mostly use a 24-70mm Canon lens.

Yes of course, if you install it to work with the zoom wheel you can control it that way, you’ll just need to move the gear as well.

I have a Panasonic TM700 with a 46mm thread. I am wondering what products I will need to buy for a JAG adapter to work, and what you suggest I get. Which lens is most affordable and will work best with the TM700? I have never used a step-up ring so I do not know how they work – will I need one for the TM700? Can you do a flip hack on the HDC-TM700?

I’m looking at the DFocus v3, and when ordering, it asks you to choose the number of gears that come with it. I’m assuming these are lens gears? Or are they for the follow focus assembly? Also, if I get it, I’ll be using it with a Canon T2i that has a battery grip. If mounted on rods, will I need any additional gear for the follow focus to compensate for the added height of the battery grip?

I’m going to order the DSLR baseplate with zacuto rods and my main reason is for the D Focus. I use the 5d mark 2 and I have a battery grip attached, will the follow focus work with the grip?

It’ll work, but you’ll need either the D|Riser or the Rod Riser to elevate the D|Focus so it reaches your lenses.

I would like to build up a full set shoulder rig which can handles the the follow focus, external lcd, zoom h4n, external mic, external led video light. So what items should I build in order to create this rig. Could you please give me some recommendation and the list of required items to build up the set, as well as the prices. Cheers!

Sure… if you’ll be shooting with an External Monitor then go with the Straight Rig, and in order to mount any device, you’ll need a single railblock which mounts anywhere on the rigs rods, and you can use either a ballhead mount or an accessory arm, your choice, depending on how much control you want.
