Which Audio Device do you prefer?

audiodevice

We’ve been using our Zoom H4n recently to shoot our NAB 2010 and Cine Gear 2010 Interviews, and have been loving it so far. We really haven’t tried any other Audio solutions, although we hear that some people are happy with other options as well, and want to be able to mount their devices to our setup.

We wanted to ask everyone, what device they prefer. This will give us an idea of what most people are using, and we can try and accommodate the majority of people. Here’s the options.

Misa, I have the Zoom H2 which does not have the xlr connectors and its fantastic. I have conducted interviews with the onboard mics and the S/N ratio is amazing. Syncing with FCP is a snap if you do it right. I have actually the beachteak and I don't even use it anymore, too noisy.

No Tascam? I love the DR100.

ZOON H1 all the way, best bang for the buck! I can plug it into my 7d, its small and easy to stick in any small spot like in a car. Light enough to stick on a boom, and amazing audio quality.

Hi,Can we plug the H1 on to T2i as well?

      I believe you can!

Out of the listed options, I've only used the Zoom which I find has unacceptably high self-noise. (This self noise – hiss – becomes apparent when the input level is set above 35) – I find it's better to feed the Zoom from a good quality mixer rather than to record to it directly UNLESS you can keep the input gain below 40. YMMV.

I love the zoom only thing i would add is rechargeable battery with a option for AA batteries. Oh and optional IR remote :)

you can always use Rechargeable AA batteries.
