Details
The DSLR Baseplate was specifically designed as a small compact solution that will give you support rods below your DSLR camera. You can mount your Follow Focus and Mattebox and virtually anything that can be attach to 15mm industry standard rod.
Your Choices:
You'll notice a few new choices when purchasing the new DSLR Baseplate. Starting with the type of DSLR Stand.
1. Two DSLR Stand Options: You'll have the option of choosing our Standard DSLR Stand, which works great for mounting your DSLR Camera direct, or you can choose the Gorilla Quick Release, which is specifically designed to accept your Camera mounted to a Zacuto Gorilla plate. With the flip of a switch you can lock down or release your DSLR Camera from the kit. (Actual Gorilla plate not included, you buy it separately)
2. Choose Rod Type: You'll also have the ability to choose which type of rods you want to use for your kit. Jag35 Rods are affordable and functional, they'll get the job done and you won't need to break the bank acquiring them. Your other options is to go with the Zacuto Rods, in our opinion, the best machined rods in the market. Perfectly calibrated and balanced, features hollow aluminum for a very lightweight rod. When it comes to building a rig, you'll definitely want to take advantage of the lightest rods available.
3. Choose Rod Size: Your third and final option is to select what length rods you want. For most applications, you'll be fine using the 6" rods. You'll have enough space to mount a Follow Focus along with a Mattebox using most Canon lenses. If you plan on using longer lenses, like for example the 70-200mm, then you'll definitely need more like the 8" rods. If your looking to mount more things or eventually build up to full shoulder rig and using these same pieces as a starting point, you'll also have the option to get 12" rods. Not absolutely necessary to build up, but it's there as an option if you feel you'll need more rod space with your DSLR Baseplate.

Versatility:
This simple design includes a DSLR Stand of your choice, so that no matter what your needs are, you can be sure that your Camera can be mounted. It also offers your choice of rod types and rod sizes, so you can be in complete control of what your kit should be. The DSLR Baseplate also includes a Tripod Plate which you can mount below your rods, and easily attach your tripod quick release for fast tripod mounting. Small, compact and most importantly, affordable, makes this a great starting DSLR Baseplate for your kit.
Upgradeability:
The Jag35 DSLR Baseplate is a great piece of hardware to start off your kit. With everything included, you can already do so much, like for example, easily attach a follow focus unit to your Camera, as well as a Mattebox and to top it off, you'll be able to mount your complete kit straight to your tripod, no problem. However that's not the end of it's capabilities, it's only the beginning.
As you continue to build your kit, you'll find yourself wanting to mount other devices to your rig. For example one of the first things we wanted to add, because of the camera's limitation with audio, was a proper audio recording device, like a Zoom H4n. If you already have the DSLR Baseplate, all you'll need to mount your Zoom H4n is a Single Railblock and a Ballhead Mount or an Accessory Arm. You'll then be able to mount and position your Audio Device anywhere in your kit using the 1/4-20 thread. Here are some configuration possibilities.
